Man-Down... How Could You Take A Man's Life?

Courtesy of myfoxatlanta.com:

"ATHENS, Ga. - The family of a man accused of shooting two Athens-Clarke County police officers and killing one of them on Tuesday afternoon spoke with FOX 5. Both Jamie Hood’s mother and father say they hope their son will turn himself in to authorities, but until then a manhunt continues.
Police followed Hood and another man to an apartment complex after an alleged carjacking in Oconee County.
One suspect was taken into custody, but police say they’re still searching for 33-year-old Hood, who ran from the traffic stop scene. He’s accused of shooting Officer Elmer “Buddy” Christian and Officer Tony Howard. Senior Police Officer Christian died as a result of his injuries, and Senior Police Officer Howard was hospitalized in stable condition.
The car he was said to be driving, a silver Chevy Prism, was later recovered, but there was no sign of Hood.
FOX 5’s George Franco spoke to Hood’s family in East Athens on Tuesday evening. His father, Robert Hood, said he didn’t know where his son was, but he would tell his son to give himself up. He says he loves his son, and he taught him to do the right thing, and that the right thing is to give himself up.
Hood’s mother, Azalee Hood, made a plea on FOX 5 News for her son to turn himself in.  She also said that another son, who was also the suspect's brother, was shot and killed by an Athens-Clarke County police officer in 2001. Investigators said 22-year-old Timothy Hood pulled a gun on an officer, but the gun jammed, allowing the officer to get two rounds off. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation looked into that shooting, which is standard procedure when an officer is involved.
Azalee Hood said she would turn her son in herself if she sees him. She said she feels for the officers who were involved, and for the family of the officer who was killed.
Police said Jamie Hood is a fugitive who should be considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact authorities immediately."

Senior Police Officer Tony Howard remained at Athens Regional Hospital on Wednesday, and authorities say he is doing well.

RIP Senior Police Officer Elmer "Buddy" Christian, who was fatally wounded Tuesday, March 22, 2011
